A FLOWER’S SHADE: INSTALLATION BY DAWN HOLDER

A Flower’s Shade recreates the symmetry and order of formal French gardens, but disrupts man’s domination of nature by rendering precious that which is traditionally discarded—Holder dips weeds, clippings, and other organic matter in liquid clay slip to create delicate porcelain fossils.  The forms are arranged on geometric beds of fragmented concrete that at once recall man’s control of nature as well as its uncontrollability. The exhibition will remain on display through April 21, 2016.
