PICTORIALIST & MODERNIST: HOWARD STERN PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION

Selected from ASC’s Permanent Collection of Howard Stern Photography, the black and white gelatin silver prints featured in this exhibition highlight the dramatic shift in two early twentieth century approaches to photography. Stern’s soft, evocative landscape and romantic genre prints appear alongside the powerful diagonals and extreme, high contrast close ups that point to the influence of modernist photography. Howard Stern, a physician, began the Little Rock Camera Club in the 1930s before relocating to Pine Bluff. The exhibition will remain on display through December 10, 2015.
