Here. African American Art from the Permanent Collection

On May 12th, from 5–7 p.m. the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas will hold a reception and book release for a catalog with scholarly essays related to its Permanent Collection of African American art. The reception will include a discussion of the research related to the Collection by Executive Director Dr. Lenore Shoults, Curator Courtney Taylor, and UAPB Art Department Chair and artist Danny Campbell. Curator Courtney Taylor will lead guided tour of the exhibition Here. African American Art from the Permanent Collection. The publication features full color plates and essays by Curlee Holton, Executive Director of the David Driskell Center and founder of the Experimental Printmaking Workshop, Dr. Lisa Farrington of CUNY, and ASC staff addressing the significance of prints in the Collection, female African American artists, interviews with AfriCOBRA members Nelson Stevens and Kevin Cole, and the role of University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff artists held in the Collection. Hardcover and paperback editions will be available for sale at the event.
