ART WORKS on Main
About

This workshop is sponsored by a Kenneth Reams Arts for Justice Grant.

In this immersive workshop tailored for ages 12-17, participants explore the emotional complexities of gun violence through acting.

They will engage with scenes, monologues, or excerpts from a diverse range of theatrical works, delving into themes such as conflict, loss, and the repercussions of poor decisions. Through these dramatic explorations, participants develop empathy, honing their emotional depth through improvisation and character work.

Collaborative creative projects empower them to advocate for change, utilizing their newfound understanding to make a positive impact.

Join us at the ARTx3 Campus for an exciting theatrical journey with the Kenneth Reams: Arts for Justice Grant-sponsored “Theater for Change” program! Dive into the world of theatre through a series of engaging classes and summer camps, featuring acting, playwriting, stage management, and directing.

This unique opportunity is designed for community members and volunteers of all ages to discover and enhance their theatrical skills while aligning with the inspiring messages and mission of artist Kenneth Reams. Each program consists of four to five classes tailored to specific age groups, ensuring everyone has the chance to hear the artist's story and the magic of theater.

Her directing work includes You're Good Man, Charlie Brown; Midnight at the Black History Museum; The Addams Family; The Golden History Museum of Black Excellence; Beauty and the Beast; and The Voyage.

Patrice holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees in teaching theater from Southern Arkansas University, where she was honored with Irene Ryan acting awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for her dramatic performances in No Exit and A Raisin in the Sun

Patrice has a passion for encouraging others to cultivate their own art by writing, teaching, and directing. She has served as the performing arts director for several nonprofit performing arts agencies, and she's currently the Director of Theater for Little Rock Central High School.

When she’s not on the main stage, Patrice is performing in her biggest and most rewarding role of all time, and that’s wife and mom to her two “M”s, Marvin and Myles.
