Join the Arts & Science Center and the Museum of the Discovery for Tinkerfest 2019! This year, the event is full of engaging hands-on activities that explore the brain and will feature a mobile sensory-friendly area.
The hands-on activity stations will include:
An optical illusion make-and-take station. Use color, light and patterns to create deceptive and misleading images to our brains.
Sensory Gel Pad Craft. Visitors will explore oil and water in creating this science experiment.
Stress Balls. Make cool squishy stress balls that are perfect for children with autism, sensory-processing disorders, and all around fun for all ages.
For some individuals, going to events can be overwhelming due to sensory overload. The Sensory Station, provided by our partners at the Museum of Discovery, offers simple modifications to help create an accepting and inclusive environment for everyone. Visitors will find noise-cancelling headphones, fidget toys, low lighting and other low-stimulation activities.
If you or a loved one has a sensory need, please visit the Sensory Station or ask us for more information.
